DAY 1:
Arrival in Tbilisi, Georgia. Transfer to Hotel for four nights' stay. DAY 2: In Tbilisi - State Museum
of Georgia, which has a vast collection of icons and metalwork, thereafter
visit medieval churches of Metekhi and Sioni, Old Town and Sulphur Baths. DAY 3:
By coach to Gori - visit the childhood home of Stalin and the railway
carriage used by Stalin. Then to Uplis-Tsikhe, cave complex first used in the 5th century
B.C. DAY 4: Drive to Mtskheta, ancient
capital of Georgia. Visits
will include Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), Shiomgvime Monastery
(6th century) and Jvari Church (7th century). DAY 5: Depart Tbilisi for David
Gareji Monastery (6th century) and, if time permits, wine tasting in Tsinandali
before continuing to Telavi for overnight stay in guest houses. DAY 6: Visit 6th and 17th century
Shumata Monastery, Ikalto Academy (12th century) and Alaverdi Cathedral
(11th century) before continuing to Tbilisi for overnight stay at the
Hotel. DAY 7: Final departure from Georgia to the Armenia border crossing in Bagratashen where meet your Armenia hosts. |
